Weekly "Newsletter" From Mrs. Rubert:

Hi Families,

We’ve officially wrapped up our CKLA Unit 2 on Animal Classification, and I’m so proud of how much students have learned about the fascinating world of animals! This week, we’ll begin Unit 3: The Human Body, which is always such a perfect unit to start around this time of year. Students will explore how the different systems of our bodies work together to keep us alive and healthy — it’s always an engaging and fun topic! Grades are now officially posted for Quarter 1, and Quarter 2 has begun! It’s a fresh start, and I’m excited to see the growth they continue to make this quarter!

Looking ahead, our Fall Party will take place on Friday, October 31st from 1:30–2:30 PM. Please note that only the volunteers who signed up are able to attend the classroom party. Following the party, our Fall Parade will take place from 2:30–3:15/3:20 PM, and families are welcome to attend! Depending on the weather, the parade will be held either outside on the field or inside the school. As a reminder - if you want to check your student out after the parade, you will come sign them out with me at my classroom door!

Halloween Costume Guidelines for Students:
No weapons, blood, gore, or make-up. Costumes should be conservative in style. Masks (for the parade only) are permitted as long as they follow the guidelines. Students should bring their costumes to school to change into before the parade — they should not wear costumes to school. Time will be provided for students to change before the festivities. Inappropriate props such as blood, plastic swords, guns, knives, and any type of weapon are not allowed. Masks are not to be worn in classrooms and are permitted only during the parade.

It’s going to be a fun and festive week of learning and celebration!

With Love,

Mrs. Rubert

Meet the Teacher - Letter from Mrs. Rubert

I am thrilled to begin a new role this year at Aspen View Academy as your child's third grade teacher! I have previously taught fourth grade and kindergarten but third grade is my absolute favorite! I am a Washington State native and have now lived in Colorado for eight years! I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education at Western Washington University and my Masters of Education at City University of Seattle. I love AVA! I currently have two of my own children in the building including my first grader, Scarlett, and my seventh grader, Ben. My oldest, Matilda, will be attending Colorado Early Colleges next year as a freshman! My husband Tyler and I enjoy jumping in the car with the kids and exploring in the mountains, heading to the lake for kayaking, or discovering a new hike!  We have two cats, Kiwi and Henry, and recently adopted a new pup named, Buckley. I love country music, attending concerts, sunshine, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with my family! I am so excited for this school year! Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me!
