Weekly "Newsletter" From Mrs. Stump:
It's a holiday week here in 3rd Grade and we have a busy and exciting week ahead of us!
Our week will include Math Halloween Stations, where students will solve math problems and play different games as they practice their math skills. We will also have our Annual Math or Treat, a fun math twist on traditional trick-or-treating! Students will solve a math problem and then get to trick-or-treat throughout the hallway.
We will wrap up our Halloween fun with our Classroom Fall Party, where students will get to show off their costumes and enjoy some fun activities and food with their classmates. The party will be followed by our annual costume parade! The parade is open for all parents to come to. It will be on the turf field starting at 2:30, I will send out an official schedule next week.
Even though we have lots of exciting activities to look forward to, we will still be fitting in our regular schoolwork throughout the week. Students will have a spelling list this week, and we will still have our spelling test on Friday, so please remember to practice spelling words at home each night!
We are looking forward to a fun-filled week of learning, games, treats, and Halloween celebrations!

IMPORTANT INFORMTION:
- Parents please connect to our Class Dojo- this is how to monitor your students behavior (positive and negative)
- Please send your student to school with a filled water bottle as well as a couple healthy snacks for the day. Reminder that we are a nut-free classroom.
- Colorado weather changes hourly so please pack your student appropriate attire for the day.
- We will have PE every Wednesday - and some Fridays. Please have your student wear tennis shoes for those days.
- Library day is Thursday

Language Arts:
This week students will work on the following grammar concepts: Practicing using our 5 senses to give details in a paragraph with Topic & Conclusion Sentences. We will practice this by writing about our favorite season. We will also work on Alphabetizing words and Subject Pronouns this week!

CKLA Read Aloud: How Does Your Body Work?
Spelling: Changing 'f' to 'v' from singular to plural.
Even though we have a busy (but fun) week ahead of us, students will still be coming home with Spelling Words. Please practice these words and fluency read each night with your student. Homework should be returned on Friday.
Math:
Module 4 (6 lessons): Multiplication Representations
This week we will start a series of several modules all surrounding multiplication. This week we will solidify a conceptual understanding of multiplication by learning about several representations including equal groups, multiplication related to addition, arrays, number lines, and bar models. We will review this week and be ready for the test next week! When we move on to the next modules we will get into learning the properties of multiplication and practicing the facts!
I assign one homework assignment a week on Mondays that is due on Fridays. Please help your child be sure it is completed and turned in!
History/Science:
Science: Human Body
Students will cover the following concepts: Muscles, Involuntary Vs. Voluntary Actions, and the Brain and Nervous System. Our Human Body test will be Thursday, November 5th. Attached on my website is the Study Guide as well as a BLANK human body skeleton for them to practice filling out.

Meet Mrs. Mindy Stump
I am delighted to begin my eleventh year at Aspen View Academy this year! I have been teaching for 19 years. I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education at John Brown University and my Masters of Education at Cedarville University.
It is a privilege to be a teacher. I became a teacher to impact the lives of students. My first goal is to provide a safe and caring environment for your child. Secondly, I strive to provide a learning experience where each student is able to meet their full potential as students and future leaders. Thirdly, I want to partner with you to create a team that works for the best interests of your child.
It is crucial to a child's success to have support and encouragement from their families, school, and community. I appreciate your involvement and support this year as we work together. I look forward to an excellent 2026-2027 school year!
