Kimberly Mayne

Gifted and Talented Facilitator (K-4)

Meet Mrs. Mayne

Hello!  I am thrilled to be Aspen View’s K-4 Gifted Facilitator. I taught previously in Virginia for nine years, spending four years in the classroom as a third grade teacher and five years as a GT Facilitator. I then took time off to raise my two girls, Cali and Mia, now in Seventh grade and Second Grade at AVA. It is such a gift to ride to school together and catch little glimpses of them in the halls throughout the day.

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia outside of Washington, D.C. and received my Undergraduate Degrees in K-8 Elementary Education and Mass Communications from Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA. Later, I received my Master’s in Teaching from George Mason University and my Gifted Education Endorsement from University of Virginia.

My family and I moved to Colorado in 2011, only to be transferred to California 2 years later. We returned to Colorado in 2017 and haven’t looked back. We love this beautiful state and all it has to offer. On the weekends we enjoy hiking, camping, and exploring. My daughters play soccer, as well and we spend a lot of time on the soccer field. My hobbies include running, biking, home decorating, and shopping. My mom is a children’s community theater director and directed musicals throughout my childhood. Recently, she began directing again and has one request from me - that I be in the plays as well. I’m thrilled that my daughters are able to take part in something that brought me such happiness as a child - and as a result, have rediscovered a love for singing and acting.

Working with Gifted Learners in Virginia was my passion. As a classroom teacher, I loved providing students with challenging content and enrichment while compacting and tiering lessons appropriate to their levels. It was truly magic when all needs were provided for in the classroom. My Master's thesis was later based on Gifted Learners and providing for them in the heterogeneous classroom setting. As a Gifted Facilitator, I enjoy developing critical and creative thinking skills and providing students with fun and engaging, hands-on activities that take minds to new heights!

I look forward to a wonderful year and cannot wait for the learning and magical moments to begin!
