  • Students have just assembled their, "The Making of America, Immigration," packets in their red (history) folder.
  • Students will use their packet each day for classwork and homework.
  • They will also use their iPads to connect with Google Classroom, as some assignments will be turned in electronically.
  • If students are absent, I post a summary of each day in Google Classroom under the title, "Daily Class Summary." .
  • GOOGLE CLASSROOM will be up and running by the first day of school.  At that time, students will be invited to their History Class with their AVA email address.
  • The format for all student emails is as follows: Last Name - First Initial of First Name - First Initial of Middle Name. Example: [email protected]

    • Each unit we study in 6th grade World History has its own Student Reader (book). Here is our most recent book/link.

Meet Mrs. Link!

Hello!  I am thrilled to be a part of AVA, and even more excited to be teaching World History on the 6th grade team.  This will be my 16th year teaching.  I taught Middle School History for 8 years and Visual Arts to students K-8 for 5 years.  This is my third year teaching history here at AVA. I have a love for history, and hope to instill that love in my students.

My family and I moved to Castle Rock from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago a little over 4 years ago.  When I am not at school, I enjoy family time with my husband  and two children, Jack (19) and Ella (16).  We have taken full advantage of the Colorado lifestyle, and we love hiking and enjoying the Great Outdoors!

I am so excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year, and cannot wait to get to know my students.  I am honored to be part of this community, and I thank you for sharing your kiddos with me.

In partnership,

Other AVA Important Info:
  • Middle School Athletics
  •  HelpCounter will be used to register for volunteer opportunities and log your service hours. We will no longer be using the Raptor System to log your volunteer hours. All volunteer hours should be logged into HelpCounter within 48 hours. There will be a computer in the front lobby so you can log hours while you are at the school; you may also log hours at home for any PTO work, at home projects or if you forgot to log your hours while you were at school.
  • How to Set up your Account with HelpCounter
  • Please click on this  link and log in using your email address and create a password.
  • Click on 'Update Profile Information' to add your information and record your student's grade.
  • Click on 'Update Volunteer Interest Form' to indicate what types of volunteer opportunities interest you. This does not commit you, rather it allows the coordinator to see who is interested in specific opportunities.
  • If you have questions about HelpCounter or logging hours, please email me at  dcarson@aspenviewacademy. org
    • Please visit our  website to find the links to shop all 3 of our uniform vendors. There are two new shirt colors added which include a green color shirt for all grades, PreK-8th grade and a black color shirt for 6th-8th grades. As long as you are shopping under Aspen View Academy it will pull up all of the options for you.
    • You can also shop during the Start of the Year, Used Uniform Sale on Saturday, August 12th from 12-2pm in the AVA elementary gym hosted by the PTO. Please see the link here for all information on the sale.
  • If your student will be walking or riding their bike to school then you will need to fill out this  walker permission form. If you will be picking up your student in the carpool line then you will need to fill out the  carpool tag form. If you do not plan on picking up your student in the carpool line then you do not need to fill out the carpool tag form. This form will be available all year, so if you decide you need carpool tags mid-year, you can find this form on our website under forms and policies.
  • You will be able to pick up your carpool tags at the Middle School Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 10th from 6-8pm, Friday, August 11th from 8-3pm or during Meet and Greets on August 14th and 15th.
