Weekly "Newsletter" From Mrs. Chambless

Can you believe it? We’ve officially entered our last full week of 3rd grade—and what an incredible year it has been! To celebrate our final days together, we’ve started a fun balloon pop countdown, revealing a little surprise or treat each day to make our last 10 days extra special. The students are loving it, and it’s been a joyful way to wrap up the school year with smiles and laughter.

This week, we do have a few important dates to keep in mind. Our Colonial America test is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th, so please help your child review at home. Then on Friday, May 16th, we’ll be celebrating the end of our Colonia America unit with Colonial Day from 8:45–10:15 a.m. at Parrish Park Fields. It will be an awesome hands-on experience where students will showcase what they’ve learned about Colonial Life! Also on Friday, we’ll enjoy a special surprise—your child doesn't know it yet, but we’ll be watching Holes, the movie based on the novel we recently finished reading. It’s a fun way to end the week and connect literature to film.

As we approach the end of the final quarter, please take a moment to check your child’s grades online. This will ensure there are no last-minute surprises as report cards are finalized. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year—it’s been a pleasure growing and learning together in 3rd grade!

Meet Mrs. Chambless

I am in my 17th year teaching, eighth year at AVA! LOVE it here!  I have taught kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd. I am a Colorado native and love being with my family. My husband, Matt, works as a specialist for Douglas County School District... we are a teaching family!  I have a 12th grader, Allikaye, and twins in sixth grade, Kai and Cambria. We are a busy family and like it that way! We are out playing sports, hiking, traveling, camping, and love being outdoors... Colorado living... especially living in the pines in Larkspur! I love coffee, reading, rainbow colors, smiley faces, and donuts! This is going to be a great year! Thank you for sharing your sweet children with me!!
