Weekly Update from Mrs. Godwin

I hope everyone had a great 3-day weekend!

Please keep an eye out for your child’s MAPS and DIBELS scores coming home over the next couple of weeks. We will send an email to let you know when it will be in Thursday folders.

It is also our fundraiser week, this is always a fun week for the kids as we raise money for Aspen View! All week long, Boosterthon reps will be visiting our class to teach us important virtues while helping us raise money for our school. You can register your student at mybooster.com. To conclude the event, students will run in our Fun Run next Wednesday, September 16th.

IMPORTANT INFORMTION:

Parents please connect to our Class Dojo- this is how to monitor your students behavior (positive and negative)
Please send your student to school with a filled water bottle as well as a couple healthy snacks for the day. Reminder that we are a nut-free classroom.
Colorado weather changes hourly so please pack your student appropriate attire for the day.
We will have PE every Thursday- and every 4th Friday. Please have your student wear tennis shoes for those days.
Library day is Wednesday.

More about Mrs. Godwin...

Hello! My name is Carisa Godwin, and I am excited to be your fourth-grade teacher this year. I am excited to be starting my 16th year of teaching. I have had the pleasure of teaching 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I love helping students learn, grow, and discover new things every day. I earned my bachelor's degree in Child Development from California State University, Northridge in 2002. I went on and completed my teaching credential program and master's degree with an emphasis on Teacher Leadership from California Lutheran University in 2006. My husband and I have three children- Marshall (senior), Ashley (6th grade) and Nicole (3rd grade). We also have a Charlie, a Goldendoodle who likes to eat everything he can get to. He is incredibly mischievous!

Over the years, I have moved a lot. I grew up in California and taught 4th and 6th grade. We moved to Colorado and I taught 5th and 6th grade for two years here at Aspen View Academy when it first opened. Then we moved to North Dakota and I stayed home with my two youngest children. In 2017 we moved to Oklahoma and I went back to teaching 4th grade. My family and I just moved back to Colorado in June and we couldn't be happier.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy photography, cooking, camping and traveling with my family. We have been to Portugal, France, and Japan. We love to immerse ourselves in the culture we choose to visit.

I look forward to getting to know each of you and making this a fun and successful school year together!
