WELCOME TO THE FLOCK

Welcome to Physical Education!

Hello! My name is Stacie Hegarty, and I am so excited to be your child's Physical Education teacher. We are going to have an amazing year filled with fitness, fun, and learning! Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, games, and functional fitness activities while developing teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits.

A little about me—I have lived in Castle Rock for 26 years. My husband and I have been married for 24 years, and we have four children ranging in age from 14 to 22. We have also been blessed with a grandchild!

I had the privilege of working at AVA as an instructional assistant for eight years, and I am excited to begin my second year as the Physical Education teacher. I truly look forward to getting to know your children and helping them build confidence, stay active, and have fun.

PE Expectations

To help make PE a positive learning environment for everyone, I ask that students:

  • Stay quiet and attentive during directions.
  • Show respect to me, their classmates, and our gym space.
  • Follow instructions the first time they are given.
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship and always do their best.

What Students Need for PE

Please help your child come prepared by ensuring they have:

  • A full water bottle.
  • Appropriate athletic footwear.

Our PE schedule remains the same throughout the school year. For example, if your child has PE on Mondays, they will continue to have PE on Mondays each week. Every few weeks, students will also have a bonus PE class on Friday. Your child's homeroom teacher will post the PE schedule on their classroom website.

As the weather gets colder, if your child wears boots to school, please pack a pair of sneakers for PE.

Missed PE Classes

If your child misses a PE class, a makeup activity form will be sent home in the Thursday folder. Students will need to complete 40 minutes of physical activity, have the form signed, and return it to receive credit for the missed class.

Daily Participation

Each student begins every PE class with 5 participation points. Points may be deducted if a student:

  • Comes to class unprepared.
  • Does not listen or follow directions.
  • Is repeatedly disruptive or requires multiple reminders to stay on task.

My goal is for every student to be successful and enjoy PE. By following expectations and participating with a positive attitude, students can earn all of their daily points while having fun and staying active.

Thank you for your support! I am looking forward to a fantastic school year with your children. If you ever have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I can't wait for a year full of movement, learning, and fun!
