Please send your student with a  water bottle, and a nut free snack daily. I don't have water cups at school and a lot of students don't have water bottles. Please have your child bring his/her water bottle home each night to rinse out.  Children are leaving water bottles on their desks for the whole week without washing them.  I will continue to remind and hand them their water bottle to put in their back packs.

  • To avoid lost or broken student items please leave toys and personal items at home.

MEET MRS. THOMSON!

Welcome to Room 204 Mrs. Thomson's class!  I am very excited to be your child's second grade teacher for the 2023-24 school year! It's going to be a great year!  I am excited, happy, and grateful to spend this year getting to know your student and your family!

This is my sixth year teaching as a classroom teacher.  I taught 5th grade at Soaring Hawk last year and was a second grade math/reading interventionist in the Chicago area.  I've also taught third and fourth grade, subbed K-12, and high school English for a few months. This is my first year teaching at Aspen View Academy. I really appreciate the warm welcomes I've received so far.

My family moved from the Chicago area (where I'm originally from) to Castle Rock a year ago.  I love the sunshine streaming through my windows most days here.  I'm married to my wonderful husband, Rob, and have 8 year-old twins, Luke and Lauren, who currently attend AVA.  My oldest son Marcus is married to my sweet daughter-in-law Ileana.  They are preparing to head back East to pursue their careers in engineering and journalism. We have one spoiled furry family member named Pickles, who is 10 years old.  We really like the Castle Rock area.  There is so much to do!  Family is the most important thing in my life. I enjoy spending quality time with them, baking (LOVE the holidays!), playing the piano, learning to play the J Bass guitar, painting, exercising, and hiking. I love to travel and have lived overseas for 4 years in Tokyo, Japan!  I feel that my experience prepared me becoming the passionate, dedicated, and culturally diverse educator I am today.

Looking forward to a wonderful year with your 2nd grader and partnering with you!
