GoGuardian

GoGuardian is the product used for web filtering on school-owned devices. Harmful content and cyber threats are everywhere online, and we aim to protect students with the use of tools like GoGuardian. GoGuardian allows the school to monitor students browsing activity and protect them from harmful sites or activities.

GoGuardian Parent

We have enabled GoGuardian Parent for students in grades 3-8. GoGuardian Parent is an app that gives parents and guardians the opportunity to monitor their children’s browsing activity on their school computer. A healthy school environment is built on safety, trust, and transparency. To ensure that the safety of our students is a top priority, we believe in being transparent with guardians about students’ online activity.

In the GoGuardian Parent app, you will be able to view:

  • Top 5 summary of student browsing (apps, extensions, documents, and websites visited)
  • 30-day view of websites, videos, documents, apps, and extensions

To access the app, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Download the app
    1. iPhone: Visit App Store, search for GoGuardian Parent, and tap the download button.
    2. Android: Visit Google Play Store, search for GoGuardian Parent, and tap the download button.
  2. After the app is successfully downloaded and installed, open it up and enter the email address registered with the school in Infinite Campus.
  3. Login/Check Email: Check your email on your phone for a link to log in to the app. Tap the “Verify your email”, and it will take you straight to the app. Note: If you don’t have access to your email through the device you used to log in, tap on “Login with verification code”, and copy and paste the verification code from the email into the app.

If you have any questions, you can reach us at techsupport@aspenviewacademy.org

Google Workspace

For the first time, Aspen View Academy is providing students and staff with access to Google Workspace (formerly Google Apps for Education), a collaborative suite of web-based programs providing email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring and other productivity tools. Prior to this year, students and staff used Google Workspace with their DCSD credentials. This year everyone will be able to use Google Workspace with their Aspen View Academy credentials.

All Aspen View Academy students will be assigned an @s.avak8.org email address that will stay with them throughout their enrollment at Aspen View Academy. This email will give them access to the Google Suite of Educational Apps. Log-in information will be provided at the beginning of the school year.

Google Workspace for Education Core Apps includes Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Sites. Not all may be licensed to all students at any given time. The use of these apps id covered by the agreement Aspen View Academy maintains with Google. This means that:

  • Aspen View Academy owns the data and it is not indexed by Google.
  • There are no ads served in these apps and the students’ privacy is protected.
  • Google’s statement on privacy for Google Workspace for Education can be found here.

At this time, YouTube does not fall under the Google Workspace for Education privacy statements. It is treated as a Consumer App. This means that when a student uses YouTube, the terms of service and privacy policy that apply to Google’s Consumer products apply. The data created using YouTube is not owned by the school and could be indexed by Google and will generate ads. This means that YouTube does not offer the same FERPA, privacy, confidentiality terms and conditions that the core Google apps do. Google also requires YouTube users to be at least 13 years old. For this reason, students at Aspen View Academy are not allowed to use YouTube at school or on school-owned devices.
