8th Grade BAK Computers

Directions for setting up your BAK computer for home use will be sent home with the computers. They are also available here.

The following are links that may help you set up your computer for home use.

Wireless Driver

If your computer does not see your home network, you will need to install the wireless driver that can be downloaded from this site. You can download the file to a USB thumb drive, copy that file to your BAK computer, and then double-click it to install the driver.

Microsoft Office 365

Through DCSD (Douglas County School District) you are eligible to download and use Microsoft Office products using your credentials. Go to this page for more information.

Windows License Key

If you are prompted to enter a Windows license key and you do not know what it is, you should be able to do the following to get the original license key purchased with your computer.

  1. In the Windows search bar in the lower left hand corner, type cmd. Click on Run as Administrator to open the Command Prompt.
  2. Once it is open, copy and paste the following command (or type it exactly as listed) and hit the Enter key: wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey
  3. The 25 digit Windows license key will appear. Highlight this product key and click CTRL + C to copy it.
  4. Now, go back Settings>System>About.
  5. Scroll down and click on Change product key or upgrade your edition of Windows.
  6. Press CTRL+V to paste the product key when prompted.


Securly is a web filter in use at our school. When a student is not on the school network, the student will be required to log in to Securly before the student can search the web.

  1. The first time students try to search on their home network, they should be redirected to a window prompting them to login to Securly.
  2. Click on the Login with Microsoft Azure AD button
  3. Students should enter their Aspen View Academy email (such as:
  4. The password is the students’ Aspen View Academy password (the same password used to log on to the computer)
  5. The next screen asks if you want to save this account information. You can select Yes or No (it doesn’t matter).
  6. That is it — you should then be able to do a Google search without any problems.


Getting stuck with Securly web content filter?

  • The students’ Aspen View Academy email is in the following format: First Name Initial + Last Name Initial + DCSD School ID The password is the same one used to log on to the computer.
  • Make sure you are choosing the Blue option – Login with Microsoft Azure AD, when this screen pops up.
  • Make sure you are using your AVA email and your computer password – not your DCSD email (example:

For those of you who need some help here are some steps to take:
Accessing online

  1. Go to
  2. Login using your student’s account information found in Infinite Campus (*
  3. Click on the  icon found in the upper right hand corner
  4. Select Classroom

To download Google Classroom to a mobile device (Tablet, Phone, etc):

  1. Go to app store or google play and search : Google Classroom
  2. Select it and begin downloading
  3. Open it up and follow steps below….
    • Enter your child’s district email.
    • Enter your child’s password Dcsd123456 (student number) and click Next.
    • If there is a welcome message, read it and click Accept.
    • Since you are using a G Suite for Education account, click I’m A Student or I’m A Teacher.
    • Click Get Started and you should see all your students classes load to the home page.

The Douglas County School District and Aspen View Academy cares deeply about the privacy of our students. We are committed to ensuring that their data is protected in every instance, and that we are in compliance with the Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act (HB 16-1423) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

DCSD and Aspen View Academy has always protected student data. The new Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act is helping to reinforce this protection by focusing on:

  • Reinforcing protocol for using software and working with vendors
  • Transparency for our community on what student data the CDE and DCSD collects and how its collected
  • Bringing greater awareness of elements to look for on click-through contracts for free online apps

Student Data Privacy Act Roles and Responsibilities

House bill 16-1423  mandates local school districts and charter schools implement the following items:

  • Adopting a student data privacy policy
  • Creating a webpage for transparency that has the following
  • List of student PII collected by the charter
  • List of CDE student PII
  • List of Apps that is used by the school
  • List of vendors that collect student PII
  • With contract and Data privacy addendum
  • Conduct Mandatory training regarding student privacy

COPPA is the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule that all online websites and service providers must adhere to.

Aspen View Academy does not have any specific agreements with vendors as our vendors fall under the DCSD Supplier Data Privacy Agreements. To see that list of vendors, you can go here.
