8th Grade BAK Computers

Directions for setting up your BAK computer for home use will be sent home with the computers. They are also available here.

The following are links that may help you set up your computer for home use.

Wireless Driver

If your computer does not see your home network, you will need to install the wireless driver that can be downloaded from this site. You can download the file to a USB thumb drive, copy that file to your BAK computer, and then double-click it to install the driver.

Microsoft Office 365

Through DCSD (Douglas County School District) you are eligible to download and use Microsoft Office products using your @s.dcsdk12.org credentials. Go to this page for more information.

Windows License Key

If you are prompted to enter a Windows license key and you do not know what it is, you should be able to do the following to get the original license key purchased with your computer.

  1. In the Windows search bar in the lower left hand corner, type cmd. Click on Run as Administrator to open the Command Prompt.
  2. Once it is open, copy and paste the following command (or type it exactly as listed) and hit the Enter key: wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey
  3. The 25 digit Windows license key will appear. Highlight this product key and click CTRL + C to copy it.
  4. Now, go back Settings>System>About.
  5. Scroll down and click on Change product key or upgrade your edition of Windows.
  6. Press CTRL+V to paste the product key when prompted.

Securly

Securly is a web filter in use at our school. When a student is not on the school network, the student will be required to log in to Securly before the student can search the web.

  1. The first time students try to search on their home network, they should be redirected to a window prompting them to login to Securly.
  2. Click on the Login with Microsoft Azure AD button
  3. Students should enter their Aspen View Academy email (such as: aa111111@aspenviewacademy.org)
  4. The password is the students’ Aspen View Academy password (the same password used to log on to the computer)
  5. The next screen asks if you want to save this account information. You can select Yes or No (it doesn’t matter).
  6. That is it — you should then be able to do a Google search without any problems.

Getting stuck with Securly web content filter?

  • The students’ Aspen View Academy email is in the following format: First Name Initial + Last Name Initial + DCSD School ID number@aspenviewacademy.org. The password is the same one used to log on to the computer.
  • Make sure you are choosing the Blue option – Login with Microsoft Azure AD, when this screen pops up.
  • Make sure you are using your AVA email and your computer password – not your DCSD email (example: ap123456@aspenviewacademy.org)
