IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
For English class, each learner will have a folder and a spiral-bound notebook. The subject color for English is yellow.
All other materials (pencils, paper, markers, highlighters, etc.) are available as classroom supplies. Students may always purchase and bring their own writing utensils, etc.
Google Classroom is updated daily with each day's agenda, objective, and electronic copies of assignments (as available). Parents will need to view this on their students' accounts, so please have your student share with you!
Meet Ms. Hiam
I am a sixth-year K12 classroom teacher. Before teaching at AVA, I taught all three levels of composition to freshmen at Colorado State University -- Pueblo, while I completed my Master's degree. I finished my degree program there in 2008.
This will be my tenth year at Aspen View. Previous to my current role as 8th Grade English teacher, I was the director of the Before and After Care Program.
I have lived in Colorado since I was three years old. Currently, all of my family live nearby as well; my parents are here, and my brother and sister-in-law (and my canine-nephew!) are all close by, and I can't really envision myself anywhere else.
When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, writing, knitting, and crocheting. I especially love to read about Victorian England, and I might have a literary crush on Sherlock Holmes.
