Meet Mrs. Fanning

I am very excited to be the 7th grade History teacher here at Aspen View Academy.  It is going to be a fabulous year of learning about the United States and World History from the late 1890's to 1949.  We will learn about the U.S. rise to World power, the Russian Revolution, World War I, the 1920's, the Great Depression & 1930's, Totalitarianism, and World War II & the 1940's.

I am a Colorado native and I grew up in Lakewood.  I went to Wheat Ridge High School before heading to the University of Denver for my BSBA in Business Management.  Later, I went back to the University of Denver for my teaching credentials.  In January of 2020, I finished my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, in December of 2021, I earned a Master's in Educational Administration. I enjoy the mountains, taking hikes, and watching movies. Some of my favorite teams are the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, University of Denver Pioneers, UCCS Mountain Lions, and CU Buffaloes.

My family includes my husband, Cyrus, our son Ben, and our four cats Harry, Remy, Rosie, and Quinn.  My husband is a dentist and he practices in Denver.  Ben graduated, in May of 2020, from The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) with a BA in Psychology. He is planning on beginning a master's in School Counseling this year.

Please know you can always reach me by email at [email protected]. Feel free to contact whenever needed, I am here for my students and their parents.

Classroom Philosophy

I believe that learners need to have a balance between learning and outside of learning experiences.  This way they have a more well rounded view and experiences in and of life.  As a History teacher, I feel that they can use what they learn in our classroom and apply it to their everyday life.  The learners can also take what they know and have experienced to understand history better.  If and when they are allowed to explore many different thoughts and experiences, they have the potential of gaining much more knowledge of the world around them.
